The purpose of this Chapter will be to promote the advancement of the safety profession and safety professionals in the geographical area served. In fulfilling it's purposes, the Chapter shall have the following objectives within the geographical area:
To develop and/or disseminate locally, information and materials that will carry out the purposes of the Chapter, the Society, and serve the public.
To provide and/or support forums for the interchange and acquisition of professional knowledge among it's members.
To foster liaison with local organizations of related disciplines.
To inaugurate and implement such other programs and projects that are consistent with the purposes of the Chapter and the Society.
To conduct it's affairs in a manner that will reflect the standards, purposes and objective of the society.

TWO AVAILABLE POSITIONS ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
This position is with an excellent diversified chemical company. The position is in LaPorte, Texas, and reports to the Technical Manager. Base pay is up to $90K, and relocation is provided.
Basic Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Environmental Engineer is compliance with the site Federal and State air and water operating permits as well as RCMS compliance. Provide leadership in the areas of Environmental compliance and stewardship. The Environmental Engineer, in conjunction with the site management, will ensure site compliance with all environmental regulations and provide environmental guidance and support with assigned site projects and ensure that the all permit requirements are met and the proper regulatory documentation is in place for project execution. Process area responsibilities for pollution control systems in the plants.
Major Responsibility Areas
Leadership - Contribute to the Environmental leadership of the site by providing strategic guidance on environmental issues. Lead and support improvement efforts in these key areas. Lead and support efforts to improve the quality and cost in the manufacturing process through waste minimization.
Site Safety and Health - Support site Safety and Health initiatives, including completion of behavioral audits.
Environmental Compliance - Ensure site compliance with all regulatory and Company environmental regulations. Understand and remain current with all regulatory changes and obligations. Ensure all statutory reporting is carried out in an accurate and timely manner. Update management team on all environmental issues.
Liaison with Outside Agencies - Act as the plant contact with all local and state environmental agencies. Ensure the Company site is “audit ready” at all times and in compliance with all regulations. Ensure that the site is viewed as a good corporate citizen and ensure no fines are levied against it. Communicate with the local CAC on environmental issues and actively participate in local LEPC.
Human Relations – Support site activities including active participation in the HSSE network.
Responsible Care Management Systems - Any other responsibilities listed in RC-XX-01-001 “Roles and Responsibility Matrix” as it pertains to RCMS. Process area responsibilities – Responsible for monitoring and ensuring pollution control process areas in the plant

A major company with a plant in Baton Rouge is looking for and EHS Coordinator who will handle safety, health, security, and environmental leadership for the site. This person will be the sole EHS person for the site of about 100 non union employees and reports directly to the Plant Manager. This position provides leadership to Tem Leaders, Facilitators, in regard the EHS issues and will be the point of contact for the local, state, and federal agencies. The position will be responsible for a $200K budget and setting EHS policy for the site as well as supporting corporate and division EHS standards and goals.
Requirements are a 4 year degree in a Safety, Engineering, or related science field, willingness to get a CSP if not already acquired, strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA, USCG, regulations and experience in a plant environment. A minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
